This Kurdish & Lebanese wedding was the perfect start to 2024, full of vibrant colors, beautiful cultural ceremonies, and exuberant, joy-filled traditional Kurdish dancing. From the gorgeous architecture and decor to the the intricate and intentional details of the day, Chawan and Ali curated the most elaborate and unique celebration surrounded by their closest family and friends. As guests arrived, Chawan and Ali remained hidden to prepare for their big entrance. They chose to host a "chai hour" for their guests, featuring an elaborate tea selection and a caricature artist, matching the Middle Eastern culture. Upon the highly-anticipated entrance, the guests lined the grand hall as Chawan and Ali came down the main staircase. The couple was greeted with cheering, yelling, and dancing. Ali was lifted up in the air by his best friends, signaling the celebration had officially begun!
Chawan started off the day in her white wedding gown, but changed into her traditional Kurdish clothing for the second half of the celebration, after the knife ceremony and the cutting of the cake. Upon her second entrance, our bride made her way through the crowd led by her sister and closest friends into the Gold Giving and Henna Ceremony, where Chawan was garnished in gold jewelry by her groom, followed by Chawan receiving Henna in her hands, and then wrapped in red cloth. Chawan then began distributing Henna into the palms of the guests. After this, the traditional Kurdish dancing resumes, and the party continues uninterrupted for hours. To finish off the night, the sparkler exit was garnished with snow! See more photos from the most joyous and lavish day below!
